SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- OPSWAT, a leader in critical infrastructure protection, today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Impulse, a Tampa, FL based cybersecurity firm focused on providing Network Access Control (NAC) solutions and Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) capabilities to a wide range of industries, including financial services, energy, higher education and government agencies, among others. As part of the acquisition, OPSWAT will absorb and integrate Impulse's products and teams, affording its customers mission-critical network security and SDP capabilities that are essential to protecting critical infrastructure environments from cyberattacks. OPSWAT will maintain the company's office in Tampa to serve as its first East Coast hub.

The acquisition of Impulse strengthens OPSWAT offerings to include best-of-breed solutions for integrated secure device access — Network Access Control, secure access via SDP, and Secure Device Access via OPSWAT's MetaAccess. In addition, the leader in critical infrastructure cybersecurity will now also be able to provide an end-to-end NAC solution that is interoperable by design. To expand its anytime, anywhere, 24/7/365 customer support to new and existing customers, OPSWAT's new Tampa location will be quickly integrated into the OPSWAT global support team, joining existing support centers in EMEA, APAC, and San Francisco. Additionally, OPSWAT plans to expand its footprint in Tampa with additional engineering, IT, and customer service talent in 2020 and beyond.

"We made the decision to acquire Impulse after careful evaluation of many different SDP and NAC vendors and are confident that integrating Impulse's core technologies and teams with OPSWAT will deliver best-in-class network protection to our customers," said Benny Czarny, OPSWAT founder and CEO. "Through this combined solution, we will now be better positioned to extend our 'trust no device, trust no file' doctrine to the network itself, empowering our joint customers to enforce access policies with ease, prevent known and unknown threats, and reduce their overall risk exposure."

Impulse was founded by serial entrepreneur David Robinson in 2004 to address the many challenges faced by businesses of managing network access across endpoint devices. The company's flagship SafeConnect Network Access Control (NAC) product is an award-winning solution that offers flexible endpoint policy management for BYOD while its SafeConnect Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) solution embraces a Zero Trust model to protect data and applications, regardless of whether they reside on-premises or in the Cloud.

"The network perimeter is no longer confined to the four walls of a physical datacenter. Rather, it extends out to every employee device or cloud-based application, introducing new complexities and risks to overwhelmed security teams," said David Robinson, founder and CEO for Impulse. "Over the course of nearly 16 years, Impulse has focused on helping hundreds of customers protect millions of endpoints with its flexible and easy-to-implement Network Access Control solution. We are thrilled to be part of the OPSWAT family and are excited to help them in their mission to bring next-generation security practices to the critical infrastructure market."

OPSWAT solutions are based on a Zero Trust framework that applies Deep Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) technology to scan and sanitize all files and ensures the integrity of devices via its Access Control Certification program. For more than a decade, OPSWAT technology has been white labeled to power NAC, SDP, SSL VPN, and secure device access for Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Pulse Secure and other leading network vendors. The OPSWAT MetaAccess product line also integrates with leading SDP solutions such as Symantec Secure Access Cloud and others, providing critical infrastructure customers with easy-to-use secure cloud and network access.
