SEATTLE, May 8, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Modumetal, the innovator and leading manufacturer of nanolaminated metals and alloys, today announced that the Company has started construction of a nanolaminated alloy production facility in Houston. The facility will bring critical production capacity online to support the rapidly-growing demand for nanolaminated coatings and claddings of oil and gas connectors and fasteners. The Modumetal Houston operation is designed for growth to accommodate future applications in other major industries, such as infrastructure and transportation.

"Modumetal's production operations in Houston will allow us to bring supply directly to our oil and gas customers and to ensure efficient access to Modumetal products, while providing on-the-ground support as we usher oil and gas operators into this new age of nanolaminated alloys," said Christina Lomasney, Co-founder and CEO of Modumetal. "Our pioneering nanolaminated alloy products have already been extensively specified by most of the Supermajors due to our performance and demonstrated improvement in return on operating assets. Modumetal continues to expand access to our value proposition across the oil and gas industry and on a global scale - this new Houston facility will serve as the future epicenter of nanomaterials growth and innovation in the energy sector."

Modumetal has engaged oil and gas industry veteran, Mike AbuHatoum, as general manager to head-up the Houston-based facility. Abuhatoum will advance the company's Houston growth and global licensing practice. AbuHatoum joins Modumetal after serving as Vice President of Manufacturing and Operations of the Dan-Loc Group, a provider of fasteners and gaskets to the oil and gas industry. Prior to Dan-Loc Group, AbuHatoum managed operations at Lamons, one of the largest fastener and gasket operators in the energy sector. His broad operational and supply chain leadership in fastener and coating manufacturing makes AbuHatoum uniquely qualified to guide Modumetal through its next stage of rapid growth within the energy sector.

Modumetal licenses its technology to fastener manufacturers around the world to enable a rapid, global operations footprint to better serve its customers through their existing supply chains. AbuHatoum will be working with this broader licensee base to ensure quality manufacturing operations are maintained to Modumetal standards.

"Modumetal has not only created a revolutionary product with unparalleled performance, but it is bringing this technology to market in a way that will turn the economics and logistics of metals manufacturing on its head," Lomasney added. "Mike brings the right experience in manufacturing and supply chain operations at large-scale to this role, a critical skillset that will empower the entire Modumetal team as we take on an aggressive manufacturing and technology-licensing expansion strategy."

The Houston facility is set to open in summer 2019 and Modumetal plans to hire production operators and engineers in the coming months, with future potential to expand its local Houston employee base to address new market demands.
