National Lutheran Communities & Services Names Belinda "Dee Dee" Barbour as Philanthropy Director

National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) is excited to announce Belinda "Dee Dee" Barbour as NLCS Corporate Philanthropy Director. In this role, Barbour will lead the strategic vision and oversee day-to-day operations of the NLCS philanthropy teams in Virginia and Maryland.

National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) is excited to announce Belinda "Dee Dee" Barbour as NLCS Corporate Philanthropy Director. In this role, Barbour will lead the strategic vision and oversee day-to-day operations of the NLCS philanthropy teams in Virginia and Maryland.

Barbour joined NLCS in the spring of 2017 as Philanthropy Director at The Village at Orchard Ridge–A National Lutheran Community. In her time at The Village at Orchard Ridge, Barbour increased the amount of philanthropic donations to support various funds including the benevolent endowment fund, which helps support the cost of care for residents who have outlived their funds.

"Since 1890, NLCS has never had to ask a resident to leave because they can no longer afford their cost of care," stated Barbour. "In 2020, the philanthropy team has a goal to raise $10 million towards the benevolent endowment fund so we can continue this proud tradition. I look forward to supporting the community philanthropy teams in reaching that goal."

Prior to joining NLCS, Barbour successfully advanced the philanthropic mission of several not-for-profit organizations including the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, Shenandoah University and Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Winchester and the Tri-State Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is also a member of the National Capital Gift Planning Council, and the winner of the 2017 Planned Giving Days Tere Linehan Memorial Scholarship. She has a B.S. in Organizational Leadership from Mountain State University in Beckley, W.Va.
