Canada NewsWire

SIOUX VALLEY DAKOTA NATION, MB, Sept. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - The governments of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, Canada and Manitoba are working together to advance reconciliation of outstanding issues for the benefit of the citizens of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and all Canadians.

The parties have achieved a significant milestone toward this goal today with the signing of a historic Framework Agreement on Reconciliation. The Framework Agreement sets the stage for dialogue between Sioux Valley, Manitoba and Canada to co-develop a mandate to negotiate an enduring and meaningful reconciliation.

The Framework discussions will outline the outstanding issues and priorities which will establish a path toward an all-party agreement of reconciliation between the three governments.

As Sioux Valley is the only self-governing Indigenous Nation in the Prairies, the Framework Agreement is yet another major achievement of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and further complements its ongoing implementation on Governance Agreement (2014) arrangements with Canada and Manitoba.
