MIAMI Realtors Showcase South Florida Real Estate at Brazilian Convention

The MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI) promoted South Florida real estate at one of Brazil's largest real estate events, the Secovi-SP Convention, on Aug. 26-28 in São Paulo. Secovi-SP, Latin America's largest trade union, was MIAMI's first of 178 foreign partner associations worldwide.

The MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI) promoted South Florida real estate at one of Brazil's largest real estate events, the Secovi-SP Convention, on Aug. 26-28 in São Paulo. Secovi-SP, Latin America's largest trade union, was MIAMI's first of 178 foreign partner associations worldwide.

MIAMI Chairman of the Board George C. Jalil and MIAMI Broward President Patricia C. Anglero made presentations to thousands of investors and brokers.

"Brazil and Miami have had a long connection that transcends geography," said Jalil, who has sold Miami real estate since 1977. "Brazilians love the Miami live, work and play lifestyle. Brazilians in Florida are the largest Brazilian community in the U.S. and Brazil is Florida's top international export trading partner. Patricia and I were honored to represent MIAMI in this prestigious, annual convention."

Brazil: A Top Market for Miami Real Estate
Brazilian buyers purchased the fourth-most South Florida real estate among international countries in 2017 (8 percent of international sales), according to the 2017 Profile of International Home Buyers of MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI) Members conducted by MIAMI and the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

Brazilian home buyers purchase the second-most Miami-Dade residential properties (tied with Argentina) among international clients.

Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach is home to the third largest immigrant Brazilian population (40,000) in the U.S., according to the MPI tabulation of data from the U.S. Census Bureau pooled 2010-14 American Community Survey.

Brazil is the No. 2 international buyer in the Sunshine State (6.6 percent of international sales), according to the 2017 Profile of International Residential Real Estate Activity in Florida conducted for Florida Realtors by NAR. South Florida is the No. 1 destination for Brazilian residential buyers purchasing in Florida. When buying in the Sunshine State, about 68 percent of Brazilian buyers chose Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach.

Jalil and Anglero participated in a future of real estate panel. Jalil spoke about how technological advances could not replace the work of Realtors because purchasing a home is complex and requires expertise and human contact. Anglero spoke about how real estate brokers and companies are analyzing Generation Z, which is defined as people born after 1996.

"Nine out of 10 young people in this generation change their product and service brand simply because they identify more with what that company is and does," Anglero said at the convention.
