First Example of Blockchain Interoperability in Mobile Healthcare Application

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (PRWEB) May 22, 2018

BlockCypher, leading provider of Blockchain Web Services and infrastructure, has enabled cryptocurrency based payments for the Patientory App which will be released for download in the App Store and Google Play on May 31st. Using BlockCypher's web services, Patientory users can use digital assets to instantly pay medical bills, receive reimbursements and process claims along with managing their health data. This is the first example of blockchain interoperability in a mobile healthcare application where one blockchain is used for managing patient data and another blockchain is used for payments. This showcases how multiple blockchains are used in a single application, for the use cases they are best fit.

"We are excited to release the Patientory App with BlockCypher's integration for payments," said Chrissa McFarlane, CEO of Patientory, Inc. "With BlockCypher's web services, we provide patients the option of using their payment blockchain of choice at the same time we provide the highest levels of access to and mobility of their healthcare data."

BlockCypher also joined Patientory Stiftung, a Swiss-based global nonprofit healthcare member organization founded for adopters of the PTOY blockchain. The PTOY blockchain securely stores and manages health information in real time.

"We look forward to working with Patientory to make it easier to manage healthcare data and make payments without delays and additional costs," said Karen Hsu, Head of Growth at BlockCypher. "Reducing the costs of managing healthcare payments will mean more resources can be directed to better health outcomes, instead of billions wasted on inefficiencies and interoperability issues."

BlockCypher will discuss the payments integration for Patientory at the Patientory Stiftung Inaugural Summit 2018. The summit, which brings together more than 300 industry decision-makers and key healthcare executives, will explore technology-specific applications and use cases while addressing some of the most achievable possibilities of integrating blockchain within healthcare.
