A Full Day of Pain Management for the Main Street Practitioner on April 14; mingle with faculty and attendees, learn and earn up to 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 credits for $129.

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (PRWEB) March 22, 2018

Come to PAINWeekEnd on April 14 at the Sheraton Indianapolis at Keystone Crossing, 8787 Keystone Crossing! It will be an educational and exciting full-day program providing busy clinicians and allied healthcare practitioners with 6.0 hours of relevant, practical instruction in the management of chronic pain.

On July 1, 2017, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed new legislation adding Indiana to the roster that have placed limitations on opioid quantities that may be prescribed for patients in pain. Initial prescriptions for opioid medications are restricted to a 7-day supply with exceptions requiring appropriate justification in the patient's medical record. Douglas L. Gourlay, MD, MSc, FRCPC, FASAM, is the former director of and Educational Consultant for the Wasser Pain Centre, Pain and Chemical Dependency Division in Toronto, Ontario. He is also a longtime member of the PAINWeek and PAINWeekEnd faculty. At PAINWeekEnd, Indianapolis, Dr. Gourlay will be presenting his course "A Comedy of Errors: Methadone and Buprenorphine" about which he commented, "I look forward to sharing some perspective on two alternatives to conventional opioid therapy that could, in the right patient circumstances, and with sufficient clinical proficiency, be added to the prescriber's armamentarium." Dr. Gourlay will also be presenting Cannabis vs Cannabinoids: The Politics of Medical Marijuana.

Other courses include Update: How the CDC Guidelines Are Impacting Patient Care; Get Your Specimens in Order: The Importance of Individualized Test Orders and Timely Test Utilization; Measure for Measure: Prescribing Guidelines, Rules, and Regulations; and Embrace Changes and Prevent Overdose: A Basic Blueprint for Legal Risk Mitigation and Response.

Commercially supported activities—addressing a range of product, disease state, and medical information topics—will also be presented.

Online registration fee for this PAINWeekEnd Conference: $129. PAINWeekEnd registrants may register for the 2018 PAINWeek National Conference, September 4-8, in Las Vegas, for $200 off the current online published price.
