Pico Union Project presents 5th Annual Downtown Seder March 25th 3:00pm - 5:00pm 2018

LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) March 17, 2018

"It's your typical non-typical multi-faith celebration of the festival of freedom," said Craig Taubman, Founder of the Pico Union Project, as he contemplated the celebration that is Passover. "All faiths and cultures have their unique springtime stories of freedom. The Downtown Seder is our desire to bring the community together on common holy ground."

What started as a small celebration 5 years ago has now grown into one of the most highly anticipated programs of the Pico Union Project; a multicultural, multi-faith, community and performing arts center in Downtown LA. The afternoon will be led by 19 community organizations – including: Valley Beth Shalom; Bend the Arc; Jewish World Watch Temple Emanuel; All Saint's; Kwang Yum; MPAC; Camp Gilboa, Words of Encouragement Church; Beth Am and Sinai Temple.

"This will not be a Seder in the traditional sense but a journey traveled by people of good will through storytelling that sets us free to be servants of God's love in our world," said Father Nat Katz of All Saints Beverly Hills one of the organizers of the event.

The afternoon will begin at 2:00pm with a produce giveaway for the local community that is coupled with art activities, matzah baking, and food. At 3:30, artists and clergy from the Muslim, Jewish, and Christian community will present freedom stories and songs from their faith traditions, sharing the spirit of the Seder and lending different perspectives. Pico Union Project Director Fiona Quinn summarize the event perfectly: "What makes this uniquely Pico Union Project is the diversity of the line-up - Where else would you have the choreographer of our smash hit art happening - ‘naked.', dancing alongside leaders from different faith groups, as well as social justice organizations?"

Sunday, March 25~ 3:00 pm at Pico Union Project Join us for this annual celebration of God's work of liberation from generation to generation. We will gather as one family of many faiths, languages and cultures during a season when many faith traditions affirm that love can conquer fear and life can conquer death's hold on our physical and spiritual selves.
