New EY Tower brings firm's purpose to life

New office design focuses on how people work, not where they sit – media tours available

TORONTO, June 27, 2017 /CNW/ - EY's Toronto office just stepped into a completely reimagined workplace in the new EY Tower, located at 100 Adelaide St. West. The new space welcomed EY people with floor-to-ceiling windows, sit-to-stand desks and six different workspaces to choose from – all designed to be flexible, fluid and focused on how people work best.

"Our new space offers a more modern, sleek look with lots of natural light – but it's about much more than esthetics," says Stephen Shea, EY Canada's Managing Partner, Talent. "It's about adapting it to the way our people work, creating the ability for more natural collaboration and learning."

The new design, dubbed EY@Work, empowers everyone to change their workspace as necessary. Depending on their schedule, someone could sit in a virtual collaboration room working with colleagues in other locations across the country – or the world – and then move to a private (just in time) room to take a confidential call. For brainstorming or team work, there are a variety of inviting seating arrangements in all corners and nooks of the office, offering a relaxed atmosphere to spur creativity.

"EY's purpose of building a better working world was the driving force behind all these moves," notes Shea. "We know that if we empower our people with flexibility, advanced technology and collaboration tools, they'll be in an even better position to offer exceptional client service."

To date, EY@Work has been implemented in 84 EY offices globally and more are coming soon. In Canada, Halifax and St. John's moved to EY@Work in 2014, Edmonton moved in January 2016 and Calgary opened its doors in April 2016. Montreal will make the transition in 2018.
