East Brunswick, N.J. — University Radiology, New Jersey's largest provider of subspecialty radiology services, today announced it has made a strategic investment in openDoctor, a leading provider of real-time access and engagement tools for ambulatory outpatient services.

The secure HIPPA complaint openDoctor platform allows patients, referring providers and call center staff to schedule complex appointments in real-time. Patients can also complete smart forms, receive appointment reminders, and submit payments to healthcare providers all from a mobile device or laptop computer. For healthcare providers, openDoctor provides analytics that can be used to optimize patient and organizational flow and improve the revenue cycle.

University Radiology (http://www.universityradiology.com) has been using the white-labeled openDoctor platform for more than two years to improve patient access and improve scheduling flows for more than 100 distinct imaging exams across 20 ambulatory sites. The platform has become a critical tool for increased operational savings and improved patient loyalty.

"Our patient response to openDoctor has been extremely positive, with more and more patients taking advantage of open access and convenience of online appointments," says Murray Becker, M.D., Ph.D., President of University Radiology. "We selected openDoctor as our vendor and now partner based on their unique ability to integrate with internal systems and understanding of the complex appointment types found within radiology. We believe that openDoctor has an enormous opportunity to expand into new markets with its innovative, algorithm based solution."

In addition to the added convenience for patients, the openDoctor platform has improved patient engagement, including fewer missed appointments and higher patient satisfaction, states Dr. Becker. The service is a key component of the newly redesigned universityradiology.com.

"We're excited to partner with an industry leader like University Radiology as we continue to develop and enhance new products that build value and loyalty for health systems," says Joseph Marino, CEO of openDoctor. "University Radiology's size and depth of expertise will also provide us with invaluable feedback as we continue to look for ways to improve the overall patient access workflows. The URG strategic investment will accelerate new product development and support company growth as healthcare expands rapidly into a consumer focused mindset."
