tw telecom Expands Network Reach in San Diego Metro with Service North to Carlsbad

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- tw telecom TWTC, a leading provider of Business Ethernet and networking solutions, today announced it is expanding its existing network in San Diego with service into the fast growing business parks of Carlsbad.  This effort helps meet increasing demand for tw telecom's industry-leading portfolio of data and Internet services, including its innovative Business Ethernet and Intelligent Network capabilities.

The San Diego expansion closely follows other expansion campaigns up the coast of California announced earlier this year.  Last spring, the company expanded its network across nine new cities in Orange County, Calif. including Brea, Cypress, East Anaheim and Huntington Beach.  This was followed by a major expansion in Los Angeles including Century City, El Segundo, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Westwood and other areas of West Los Angeles.   In May, the company introduced service to increase density from San Francisco into the communities of the East Bay, as well communities in the South Bay.  Its Northern California network now extends from south of San Jose to San Francisco, throughout the East Bay into Oakland and Walnut Creek, and north into Sacramento.  

The Carlsbad expansion also complements growth efforts by the company being implemented nationwide.  As part of this effort, tw telecom has entered into four new markets – Salt Lake City, Richmond, Va., Boston and Philadelphia – and plans to enter into one other new market – Cleveland – this year.  The company is also accelerating the density of its metro-fiber footprint in more than a third of its existing markets. 

Nationwide, the tw telecom network connects directly to 21,300 commercial buildings, including approximately 500 third-party data centers.
