Adding Capabilities in Wireless Product Safety, International Product Approvals

CALABASAS, Calif. and PLANO, Texas, Sept. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- National Technical Systems, Inc. NTSC (NTS), a leading provider of testing and engineering services, today announced that it has finalized plans for expanding its Plano facility including adding capabilities for wireless, product safety and international product approvals. The new capabilities will enhance the comprehensive set of testing and engineering services already in place at the Plano facility.

NTS estimates that the new capabilities will be completed within three months. In the meantime, other facilities within the national NTS system can fulfill needs in terms of licensed and unlicensed radio testing, product safety evaluations and testing and the attainment of international product approvals for current and future NTS customers until the expansion is complete.

"Our goal is to continue to be the leading testing laboratory in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and to serve all our customers' needs in terms of comprehensive testing and engineering services throughout the region," said John Ngo, General Manager of the Plano facility. "In the immediate short term, we can do that by leveraging the existing capabilities of the NTS system throughout the country. But our expansion plans within the next weeks and months call for creating more extensive capabilities in targeted areas at the Plano facility. We are committed to expanding our wireless, product safety and international approval capabilities and to reaching out to our regional customers and offering them a true 'one-stop shop' for their needs."

The Plano facility, which currently consists of 50,000 square feet of laboratory space plus a remote 44,000 square feet test site, currently offers extensive EMC (electromagnetic capability) testing services with seven EMC and EMI chambers including a large 10-meter chamber and two 3-meter chambers, EMP (electromagnetic pulse) testing, capabilities for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) testing, indirect lightning testing, air flow measurement capabilities and a full suite of environmental and dynamics testing capabilities including 18 chambers and five shakers, among other capabilities and services.

Currently, NTS Plano test data is also accepted based on mutual regional agreements (MRAs) in other countries including South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Australia and the European Union.
