BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Auction Holdings, Inc, announced today the appointment of Rob Weisberg as COO of Auction Holdings, and Walt Doyle to the Board of Directors. Weisberg previously served as CMO at Zipcar, the world's leading car sharing service, and led the company to 730,000 members and through a successful IPO in 2011. Following the PayPal acquisition of WHERE, Doyle is currently GM of the PayPal Media Network, the largest mobile location Ad Network in North America.

Auction Holdings, Inc is the parent company of www.Artfact.com, www.AuctionZip.com, and UK-based www.Invaluable.com. Combined, the three web properties make up the world's largest live online auction marketplace, connecting consumers with relevant products from local auctions around the world.

“Rob and Walt's experience in building great companies and great brands are terrific skill sets as we look to both enable local auctioneers with global reach and delight auction buyers by connecting them to the things they love across any screen – wherever they are,” said Adam Kirsch, Chairman and CEO of Auction Holdings. “Our platform catalogs and merchandizes hundreds of thousands of items from over twenty four thousand auctioneers – the opportunity to leverage the proliferation and adoption of tablet and mobile devices and online payments will revolutionize the existing $50 billion dollar marketplace. Rob and Walt are the perfect fit to help us build the leading brand and execute on our strategy.”

Prior to Zipcar, Weisberg was the VP Multimedia Marketing at Domino's Pizza, launching online ordering and digital practices growing the channel to represent 28% of all U.S. revenue and driving the expansion of Domino's media mix into emerging media including mobile and interactive television.

“Auction Holdings is at a pivotal time in the company's evolution," Weisberg said. “Proprietary technology is now providing unprecedented access to purchase highly sought after products previously only available to those with inside local knowledge of how to find them. At Auction Holdings we are opening the aperture to connect people with the products they are passionate about found around the globe. It is a privilege to join this world class leadership team in a company poised to disrupt the category.”

Doyle joins the board while continuing to lead PayPal's mobile advertising efforts. His ability to build great companies against emerging technology trends has been demonstrated across his career. Under Doyle, WHERE grew from a 10 person company in the early days of mobile data to become 130 person profitable company at the intersection of mobile location and commerce. Prior to WHERE, Walt worked with great teams to build leading brands including MapQuest (AOL), DialPad (YHOO), Net2Phone (T) and GameSpot (CBS).

“I've seen firsthand how technology can transform an industry and this is the right time to transform the local auction market,” said Doyle. “Auction Holdings is the market leader in a $50 billion dollar marketplace and I'm delighted to join the board at such an exciting time in the company's development and growth.”
