The new Market Area Vice President has proven leadership in the waste industry, allowing Interstate Waste Services to improve operational excellence.

Interstate Waste Services (IWS), founded with a commitment to provide dependable, quality solid waste services and exceptional customer support, is proud to announce the appointment of Rich Serio as Market Area Vice President.

In this capacity, Mr. Serio will be responsible for driving performance improvement in New Jersey, New York and New England, overseeing two landfills, eleven transfer stations, one material recycling facility (MRF) and two collection operations. As a member of the IWS Senior Leadership Team, he will report directly to Interstate Waste Services' CEO, Michael de Castro.

Mr. Serio's background includes demonstrated experience in leadership roles, most recently as the District Manager of Progressive Waste Solutions (IESI) on Long Island, New York. He previously held senior management roles with Republic Services, Pitney Bowes, Williams Lea, RR Donnelley, and United Parcel Service. He holds a BS in Environmental Science and Geology from Hofstra University, and will be based out of Interstate Waste Services' corporate office in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
