SXSW Line-Up to Showcase iBooks from Pearson, Digital Classrooms of Tomorrow

On Stage: Interactive textbooks and other digital instructional programs expected to transform the education experience for Facebook generation

SXSW, the annual festival that previews what's to come in the music, film and tech world, is presenting a line-up showcasing iBooks for the iPad and other powerful, digital classroom tools expected to transform how the Facebook generation of students learns.

SXSWedu audience members will on Tuesday and Wednesday get a first-hand look at the new Pearson iBooks and other digital programs designed to help schools in their move to digital. Pearson, a pioneer in digital and mobile learning, recreated the textbook to help teachers offer a learning experience illuminated with color, video, 3D animation and other interactive images. In addition to Pearson CEO Marjorie Scardino's keynote presentation, SXSWedu attendees will get a sneak preview of the new iBooks, including features to digitally highlight, take notes, bookmark, quickly look up definitions, link to relevant topics, and more.

Pearson's iBooks and other digital instructional materials are built on decades of expertise and research in effective teaching and learning to help students tackle the demands of college studies and the workforce that awaits them.

iBooks are the newest addition to Pearson's wide range of robust mobile learning solutions available for schools today, including the Online Learning Exchange (OLE). OLE is a digital program that gives teachers mobile access to multimedia learning materials like videos and podcasts so they can choose and develop lessons best suited for their students' needs.

In addition to interactive iBooks, more than 300 of Pearson's instructional programs in math, reading, science and other subjects for classrooms across the nation include etexts highly adaptive to each student's learning needs.
