The 2012 UBM Electronics ACE (Annual Creativity in Electronics) Awards, presented by EE Times and EDN, showcase the best of the best in today's electronics industry, including the hottest new products, technology, start-up companies, design teams, executives and creativity that propel the electronics industry forward. The awards are judged by the editors and a panel of industry experts, comprised of the leading voices of academia, industry and Wall Street. Their votes in the 23 categories honor the industry's top contributions that have had a demonstrable impact on technological, business and cultural advancements in 2011.

"We're very honored to be counted among the world's leading innovators in this year's ACE Awards," said Vidya Rajagopalan, vice president of processing solutions at Xilinx. "Offering the ease of software programmability of a microprocessor and the hardware programmability of an FPGA, the 28nm Zynq-7000 EPP underscores the move our customers are making beyond programmable logic to programmable systems integration and ushers in a new era of 'All Programmable Devices'.

The Xilinx Zynq-7000 EPP is a family of devices that combine a complete ARM® dual-core Cortex™-A9 MPCore™ processor-based SoC with integrated 28nm programmable logic. Each device is a processor-based system, capable of booting an OS from reset without needing to program the programmable logic. It enables system architects and embedded software developers to apply a combination of serial (using the ARM processor) and parallel (using programmable logic) processing to applications that require high levels of performance.

Now shipping, the Zynq-7000 EPP is the industry's first extensible processing platform designed for embedded systems that require high levels of processing performance and low power in a cost effective, flexible, and scalable platform. Target markets include automotive driver assistance, intelligent video surveillance, industrial automation, aerospace and defense, broadcast, and next-generation wireless. "The tools and gadgets that have made a difference in the way we work, live and play, have come about through the products engineers develop everyday. These exemplify the winners of this year's ACE Awards for Ultimate Products of the Year," said EE Times director of content, EDN & Designlines, Patrick Mannion. "The ACE Awards are focused on breakthrough products that are most popular among UBM publication readers and our editors, which include the Xilinx Zynq-7000 EEP, the industry's first extensible processing platform designed for embedded systems."

At the ceremony, Xilinx was also recognized as a finalist for Company of the Year, while Xilinx's Virtex®-7 2000T stacked silicon interconnect device was a finalist for Ultimate Digital IC of 2011. Xilinx's Spartan®-6 Consumer Video Kit 2.0 was also recognized as a finalist for Ultimate Product of the Year in the Development Kits category.
