Appleseed Capital, an investment and financial advisory firm that provides investment and wealth management services to individuals, family offices, foundations and institutions, has been named by InvestmentNews as one of the Best Places to Work for Financial Advisors 2018.

To be considered for the award, investment advisors nationwide completed detailed questionnaires focused on workplace policies and practices. Employees at the firms submitted anonymous surveys designed to measure workplace satisfaction.

Appleseed Capital emphasized its status as the only Illinois-based investment advisor designated as a Certified B Corporation, meaning that it meets rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability. The independent, employee-owned, fee-only firm also described its practice of awarding paid time off for volunteer work and community service, and its comprehensive compensation and benefits package.

"Being included in this list is especially meaningful since we try to make a positive difference in the world—not only by our focus on impact investing, but by how we interact with our employees, our clients, the community and others," said Adam Strauss, Appleseed Capital co-CEO.

The firm incorporates a value investment approach and environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria into its decision-making. It manages a mutual fund (Appleseed Fund: APPLX), a private fund and other strategies for its wealth management and institutional clients.

InvestmentNews, a leading news source for the financial advisory community, announced the recognition program in late 2017 to identify and recognize firms that empower employees to provide clients with the best possible investment and financial planning advice. It describes the resulting list as the first of its kind focused on financial advisories and "a guide to help distinguish which firms around the nation are providing the culture and compensation that talented employees are seeking."

The InvestmentNews Best Places to work for Financial Advisors 2018 list appears in the March 26 issue of the weekly newspaper.

About InvestmentNews and the Selection Process

InvestmentNews considered registered investment advisors and broker-dealers. Advisors were invited to complete an application, and a third-party agency delivered surveys to firms' employees and tabulated confidential ratings. The survey for employees was optional, and firms had to have a sufficient number of employee responses to be considered. Appleseed Capital is not affiliated with InvestmentNews and has not made any payment for participation in this survey. The results are not indicative of future performance and rankings of this kind are only one of many factors relevant in determining whether to retain an investment adviser. The results may not be representative of any one client's experience. Please contact InvestmentNews for further information about the methodology of the survey.
