Sprint CEO Could Get Huge Pay Bonus If Stock Remains Above $8; Here's How

Sprint Corp (NYSE: S) CEO Marcelo Claure is set to collect an $8-million bonus after successfully keeping the telecom stock above the $8 mark for nearly five months.

If Sprint continues to stay above the $8 mark Thursday, Claure and other members of the executive team will earn big stock bonuses. The stock has not dipped below the required levels since December 5.

Continued Strong Performance Pays Off

The bonus will make Claure the highest paid telecom executive out of the “Big Four” telecom giants. Following the current bonus, Sprint executives will get another chance at a hefty bonus if Sprint passes the $10 mark and stays there for 150 consecutive days within the next two years.

Shares of Sprint have gained over 46 percent within the last six months. With the FCC’s quiet period coming to an end, rumors have been swirling around a potential merger between Sprint and T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ: TMUS). Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA) has also been mentioned as a possible merger candidate with Sprint.

The Sprint CEO may be putting his latest windfall to good use; he has been named as a potential investor in a proposed MLS franchise in Miami, alongside David Beckham.

The company will report its fourth-quarter results Wednesday morning.
