Wednesday's After-Hours Movers Led By Baytex Energy, NetApp, L Brands, Synopsys And Amira Nature Foods

Shares of NetApp Inc. NTAP fell 1.65 percent during the day, but are recuperating in Wednesday’s after-hours trading. Since the bell rang, the stock surged almost 7 percent, making it the biggest gainer in the Nasdaq.

The rise was triggered by the announcement of the company’s first quarter (fiscal 2016) financial results. Earnings of $0.29 per share on revenue of $1.335 billion came in ahead of guidance and estimates, which called for earnings of $0.23 per share on sales of $1.322 billion to $1.33 billion.

On the other hand, shares of Synopsys, Inc. SNPS are down more than 1.2 percent in after-hours, after having surged 0.62 percent during the regular trading session.

Revenue of $555.81 million came in in-line with guidance and consensus. However, earnings of $0.63 per share surpassed guidance and the Street’s estimate by 6.7 percent.

Also falling –almost 1.4 percent- on its earnings report is L Brands Inc LB. The company delivered earnings of $0.68 per share on revenue of $2.765 billion, pretty much in line with guidance and consensus.

The biggest gainer of the afternoon is, surprisingly, Baytex Energy Corp (USA) BTE, which is up more than 18 percent in after-hours, recuperating from the 15.53 percent plummet it suffered during the day, part of a general decline in utilities stocks.

On the opposite sidewalk, the biggest loser is Amira Nature Foods Ltd ANFI, down more than 12 percent since the bell rang. The fall was set in motion by the announcement about the company’s Audit Committee having engaged ASA & Associates LLP as the its independent auditors.
