Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his alarm over an incident in Makhachkala, Russia, highlighting what he described as Russia’s widespread culture of hatred.

What Happened: Zelenskyy took to Twitter on Saturday to share his views on an incident at Makhachkala airport where a mob stormed the facility in search of Israeli citizens arriving from Tel-Aviv.

“Appalling videos from Makhachkala, Russia, where an angry mob broke into the airport searching for Israeli citizens on the flight from Tel-Aviv,” he wrote. He stated his belief that this was not an isolated incident but a reflection of Russia's widespread culture of hatred toward other nations.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that Israel expected Russian authorities to safeguard the security of all Israeli citizens and Jews and to “act resolutely against the rioters and against the wild incitement directed against Jews and Israelis,” reported Politico.

Zelenskyy stressed the systemic nature of this issue in Russia, stating “Russian antisemitism and hatred toward other nations are systemic and deeply rooted. Hatred is what drives aggression and terror. We must all work together to oppose hatred.”
