Recently, Cornel West has voiced his criticism of the Democratic Party’s handling of the ongoing situation in Israel and Gaza. West, who is currently running for President, bemoaned the party’s lack of courage in addressing the “apartheid-like conditions” in the West Bank.
According to a report by Time, the presidential hopeful has urged for restraint and has called on leaders, including President Joe Biden, to avoid retaliation.
West further emphasized the importance of both Jewish and Palestinian security.
"For those of us who believe that, we find ourselves relatively marginalized and always pushed to the side, and then this major catastrophe comes, and the response is more catastrophe piled on more catastrophe,” he said.

West argues that his stance on these issues is a key reason for his presidential bid.
West launched his presidential campaign in June as a member of the People’s Party. He later changed his affiliation to the Green Party, and now runs as an independent candidate.
West’s decision to break away from the Democratic Party was fueled by its failure to embrace its progressive wing. He expressed disappointment in the Biden administration’s inability to maintain the expanded child tax credit program and its continued heavy spending on the military, despite the promise of cutbacks.
