Ivanka Trump, Donald Jr And Eric Set To Testify In Father's New York Civil Fraud Trial

A $250 million fraud trial in New York is set to put the Trump family on the witness stand. According to a Business Insider report published on Wednesday, Donald Trump’s eldest children will be testifying against their father and his real estate empire, The Trump Organization.

The State Attorney General, Letitia James, has subpoenaed Donald Trump’s eldest children Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Eric Trump. The non-jury trial is set to begin on Monday in Manhattan.

Ivanka Trump, a former executive vice president of the Trump Organization, will be the first to testify. She was previously a plaintiff in the lawsuit but was released after an appeals court found the claims against her were too old.

The main allegation is that Donald Trump’s annual financial statements to banks and insurers fraudulently exaggerated his worth by as much as $3.6 billion a year. This ruling led to the immediate revocation of the company’s New York incorporation licenses.

The trial will determine monetary penalties, and whether Trump and his two eldest sons will be banned from running a business in New York state, as James has requested. Further rulings will establish if other defendants, including Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., are also liable for fraud.

The plaintiffs could also be held liable for specific violations of state law, including falsification of business records, issuing false financial statements, and insurance fraud.
