Will Hurd Criticizes GOP Candidates' Stance on Russian President Amid Wagner Plane Crash Mystery: Too Many 'Want To Kiss' Putin's Butt

Former Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas) has expressed concern over the lenient stance of some GOP presidential candidates towards Russian President Vladimir Putin, amidst the mysterious plane crash in Russia involving the leader of the Wagner Group.

According to The Hill report on Tuesday, Hurd was critical of Putin ahead of the first GOP presidential debate. He drew attention to the crash, which involved Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of Wagner Group, a key organization in Russia’s war with Ukraine.

“This is one of the issues that I hope the candidates on the debate stage get asked about, because unfortunately there's too many of those candidates in the room who engage and, to be frank, want to kiss the butt of Vladimir Putin," Hurd remarked in a CNN interview.

Prigozhin, known for his criticism of Russia’s military leadership, was speculated to be at risk following a failed coup attempt against the government in June.

Hurd, who didn’t qualify for the debate, suggested that Putin might be behind the plane crash. "A person has a 1-in-11 million chance of dying in a plane crash. Now, I don't have any of the intelligence or insights into what happened, but considering that Prigozhin tried to create a mutiny two months ago, I don't think this was luck," he stated.

President Joe Biden also hinted that Putin could be involved, but clarified that he didn’t have enough information to confirm this speculation.
