A distraught passenger on an American Airlines Group Inc AAL flight went viral in July after freaking out before the plane took off, claiming another passenger was "not real."
The internet has been searching for answers ever since. Although it's still not clear exactly what happened that day, she finally addressed the public in a video posted on Meta Platform Inc's META Instagram on Sunday.
What To Know: Uppercut Marketing executive Tiffany Gomas appeared visibly distressed during an outburst on a plane that was set to depart from Dallas on July 2. Several videos from other passengers showed the passenger screaming as she got up from her seat and started to head for the exit.
The first video that surfaced and went viral showed Gomas in tears as she walked toward the front of the plane. She stopped, turned around and addressed the other passengers.
"I'm telling you I'm getting the f*** off and there's a reason why I'm getting the f*** off and everyone can either believe it or they can not believe it. I don't give two f***s, but I am telling you right now that motherf***** back there is not real," Gomas said, pointing toward the rear of the plane where she had been seated.
She went on to suggest that the plane was going to "blow up" after takeoff, per the New York Post. The outburst prompted several theories on what actually happened that day, but the plane ultimately made it to its destination after a several hour delay due to the event.

Why It Matters: In a new video over the weekend, Gomas apologized and called her behavior "completely unacceptable."
"Hi, everyone. It’s me, Tiffany Gomas, probably better known as the 'crazy plane lady,' which is completely warranted," she said at the beginning of the video.
"As you know, I have been unwilling to speak on the viral video, but I do finally feel that it's time. First and foremost, I want to take full accountability for my actions. They were completely unacceptable."
Gomas continued, "My use of profanity was completely unnecessary, and I want to apologize to everyone on that plane, especially those that had children aboard ... We all have our bad moments, some far worse than others, and mine happened to be caught on camera for the whole world to see multiple times."
She began tearing up in the Instagram video. She didn't explain why she accused another passenger of being "not real," but the end of the video includes a link to help spread mental health awareness and fight back against cyberbullying.
"I hope that I can use this experience and do a little bit of good in the world — and that is what I intend to do. I hope that you guys can accept my apology and I can begin to move on with my life," Gomas said.
