Trump Jr. Sees 'End Of Civilization' If His Father Is Indicted For Jan. 6 Capitol Riots: 'We Are In Serious Trouble'

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former President Donald Trump, was roasted by the internet after he said that if his father is charged over the Jan. 6 insurrection, it could lead to a potential end of civilization.

What Happened: In an interview with right-wing broadcaster Real America's Voice, Trump Jr. suggested that civilization would end soon anyway.

"This is like the end of the civilization," he said.

"And, you know, if you look at the timing, most civilizations last 250 years, we're at about 248 – so we are in serious trouble if we don't right this ship."

Trump Jr.’s comments were quick to draw internet attention, with many mocking the former president’s son for his naive claims.

“I'll take that chance,” said one person on Twitter.

Another response said, “When daddy goes to jail, it will be the end of the good days for Jr.”

“Can’t stand this guy,” said a third user.

Why It Matters: Trump Jr.’s comments came after the former president announced on Truth Social on Tuesday that the Department of Justice had notified him of his status as a target of the investigation into the Jan. 6 attack.

Trump Jr. also shared his father’s statement on Twitter, criticizing the investigation as a “mockery of justice & our constitution.”

The potential indictment of Trump has sparked a debate within the GOP. While some, like Chris Christie, can't imagine a pardon for Trump, others like Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley have expressed their inclination towards supporting a pardon if Trump were to be convicted of federal charges.

Meanwhile, Special counsel Jack Smith is pursuing three federal statutes against former President Trump, including charges related to conspiracy to commit an offense or to defraud the U.S., deprivation of rights under color of law, and obstruction of an official proceeding to tamper with a witness, victim, or informant.
