Video Messages

WhatsApp is working on letting users send 60-second video messages, allowing them to communicate more clearly with their friends and family. When the feature is rolled out, it will replace the voice message button currently sitting to the right of the text box in a chat.

To ensure video messages are not misused, recipients cannot forward them to other users.

Screen Sharing On Desktop

For Windows users of WhatsApp, the messaging service is bringing two features currently available for smartphones – message editing and screen sharing.

Rolling out these features will also help WhatsApp achieve some parity with its rival Telegram.

HD Photo Sharing

The last major feature that WhatsApp is currently cooking is "HD" photo sharing. By default, WhatsApp compresses images heavily to save space on users' phones. This feature will allow users to send higher-resolution images – the compression will be relatively light.

This feature is currently rolling out to users and is turned off by default. Users will have to go into WhatsApp settings to enable it.
