Trump Defended By Tucker Carlson In Stormy Daniels Case: Hush Money 'Ordinary In Modern America'

Tucker Carlson came to former President Donald Trump’s defense on Monday night amid his possible indictment in an investigation centered around the payment of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential elections.

What Happened: The Fox News anchor said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Monday night that “Settlements like this, whatever you think of them, are common, both among famous people, celebrities and in corporate America.”

Carlson said the payment of hush money is “ordinary in modern America.”

Why It Matters: Carlson said there was no wrongdoing and that Trump critics believe that everything that the former president does is a “crime.”

The television host compared the payment to Daniels with what he said was the corporate American equivalent of a non-disclosure agreement.

Carlson called out the media for its hypocrisy and asked “Why are we handcuffing Donald Trump?”

On Saturday, Trump said on Social Media that he could be arrested on Tuesday in connection with the Daniels matter. He urged his supporters to protest and “take our nation back.”

Meanwhile, as the former president’s possible indictment looms, authorities in New York have erected barricades outside a Manhattan courthouse where the grand jury probing the Daniels case is meeting.
