  • Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc WBD DC antihero movie "Black Adam" started streaming on HBO Max. The movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, premiered in theaters on October 21.
  • It had opened to mixed responses, TechCrunch reports.
  • "Black Adam" performed poorly at the box office, earning $400 million globally against a $195 million budget excluding marketing and other costs related to promotion and distribution. 
  • However, Johnson disputed claims that "Black Adam" would lose between $50 million - $100 million.

  • The last few years have been chaotic for the DC franchises. 
  • Marvel superhero movies have, on average, consistently outperformed DC's at the box office over the past two decades.
  • WBD CEO David Zaslav wanted to put in place a 10-year-plan to rebuild DC and make it better compete with Walt Disney Co DIS Marvel Studios
