Edward Snowden Sympathizes With Elon Musk's Personal Security Concerns But Asks, What About 'Normal People'

Edward Snowden has sympathy for Elon Musk's concerns about security around his family members, but he asked the billionaire to think that he's living in a world where even "normal people" aren't safe.

What Happened: Addressing the hustle and bustle surrounding personal security concerns over the past couple of days on Twitter, Snowden said that while he sympathizes with Musk, he is a powerful public figure in a world where "even normal people are constantly tracked."

Snowden is a former National Security Agency contractor, a Russian citizen and a fugitive from U.S. law enforcement.

Why It's Important: Since a "crazy stalker" followed Musk's son X's vehicle, the Twitter chief has introduced new "doxxing" rules and suspended many accounts that seemingly violated them.

He tweeted, "Criticizing me all day long is totally fine, but doxxing my real-time location and endangering my family is not."

Musk is currently conducting a Twitter poll to determine the fate of suspended accounts that doxxed his "exact location." Musk scrapped the first poll result stating "too many options," and reposted a new poll. At the time of writing, the new poll had 1,706,254 votes, with over half saying the suspensions should be revoked immediately.
