Luminar, Volvo Open Long Range Curated Lidar Dataset For Industry Developers, Researchers - Volvo (OTC:VLVLY), Luminar Technologies (NASDAQ:LAZR)

Luminar Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: LAZR) and Volvo (VLVLY) unveiled a comprehensive lidar dataset called Cirrus that contains exclusive long-range lidar data from Volvo Cars' test and data collection fleet.
The dataset is being opened to industry developers and researchers in support and advancement of safe self-driving.
Cirrus features raw data from Luminar's high-performance lidar sensors, which accurately detect objects ahead of the car out to 250 meters away.
"By making these resources publicly available, we support developers in and outside our company and collaborate with the best of the best in their fields," said Volvo CTO Henrik Green.
The companies partnered last year to incorporate Luminar's lidar technology for safe self-driving in Volvo cars.
Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) partnered with Samsung OTCSSNLF towards 5nm self-driving chips, based on this report.
Baidu Inc (NASDAQ: BIDU) received permission from California to test vacant self-driving cars as per Reuters.
