McDonald's All-Day Breakfast Is A Real Pain For Employees

The introduction of all-day breakfast might be good for the sales numbers of McDonald's Corporation MCD, but some workers are feeling the heat.

Australian locations of the fast food restaurant have recently implemented all-day breakfast, and a Mashable report says the additional menu items have become a total nightmare for some workers. "It turns out the breakfast menu's different ingredients, equipment and processes is causing quite the headache," the report said.

The workers have vented out their frustration on Reddit when they asked how you manage all-day breakfast.

"When I used to work at Maccas, there simply wasn't enough space in the back area for all the breakfast equipment and reg menu products at the same time. The egg cooker took up most of the space in the deli and the muffin toasters took up the space used by the bun stands," wrote Redditor Jonzay.

"On top of that, having to clean the grill and change the settings every time you switched between 10:1/4:1 and sausage meat would be a nightmare and would take up way too much time unless you had a much higher buffer of cooked meat than you should," Jonzay added.

Another Redditor Itsibishi wrote, "I work at maccas currently. Basically we have the 2 grills and now one is devoted to eggs and and 4-1 and the others grill which has 3 spots does everything else. Sausage and 10-1 regularly go down on the same grill one after the other without a steam clean."

"The muffin toaster pretty much gets jammed next to the buns. In my opinion makes the walkways too small especially considering on one aide is a hot toaster and on the other side is the fryers," Itsibishi said in the post.

"Basic creates a lot more work for people out back in terms of preparation and cleaning but of course no more labor hours to compensate for that extra work. It sucks," Itsibishi added.

A McDonald's Australia spokesperson told Mashable Australia in an emailed statement they have had a "positive response" to all-day breakfast, pointing out the concept has been in some states for more than six months, is "running smoothly" and has been well received by customers and crew.
