A New Way To Advertise

With more people browsing via a smartphone or tablet, mobile advertising has become increasingly important for businesses. However, as people demand more connectivity, they are also calling for faster page-loads and more streamlined browsing, which often end up cutting out advertisements.

In order to cope with the rapidly evolving world of mobile technology, some advertisers are working come up with new, innovative ways to get their brands in front of a customer.

Ad Space Pays

Last year, Apple Inc. AAPL announced that its latest iPhone model would allow users to install ad-blocking software, which would take away banner ads on the phone's mobile web-browser and make page loading exponentially faster. The move threatened to hurt Google parent Alphabet Inc GOOG GOOGL, whose bread and butter comes from advertising revenue.

Not only that, but publishers were left out in the cold, as most sell ad space in order to fund their own operations.

New Tactics

However, that doesn't mean the days of mobile advertising are over. Apple allows publishers to sell their own ad-space when publishing within the company's News app, and most believe that in-app ads will never completely disappear.

In the latest push to generate ad revenue, wireless provider Sprint Corp S is offering advertisers yet another option. The company is offering its customers the ability to cut $5 off their mobile bills by downloading and using a new app called "Boost Dealz." The app plays advertisements when a user unlocks their smartphone and provides the option of liking, disliking or engaging with the ad.

A New Ad Age

Sprint's efforts to give advertisers a chance to get in front of customers represents what many believe will be a shift in the industry. With on-demand TV programming and mobile ad blockers, firms are struggling to get their messages across. Apps like Sprint's "Boost Dealz" give customers an incentive to watch advertisements and could be a profitable way for Sprint to make money selling ad space.
