spokesperson, responding to cease and desist later responds: “Nu Skin funds and collaborates on research projects with scientists from various academic institutions. In fact, Nu Skin's relationship with Stanford began in 1999 and continues today. During the past 13 years, Nu Skin has funded multiple research studies at Stanford, which have resulted in papers published around the world. On May 17, 2010, a Research Agreement was signed between Nu Skin and Stanford University pursuant to which Nu Skin committed $1.5 million for a study involving the identification of master regulators and epigenetic changes to human skin aging. Dr. Stuart Kim joined the Nu Skin Scientific Advisory Board at that time and was also a collaborator on the detailed research proposal. Stanford University subsequently removed Dr. Kim from the project and asked that Nu Skin work directly with Dr. Alfred Lane and Dr. Anne Chang. The substance of the letter we received from Stanford University requested that we remove a reference to a publication by Dr. Kim. Furthermore, Dr. Kim is no longer a member of the Nu Skin Scientific Advisory Board and is no longer affiliated with the company. The study with Stanford's Dr. Lane and Dr. Chang is currently ongoing.”
