Warren Buffett is having a pretty good day.

According to a Bloomberg report, Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE: BRK-A) counts Charter Communications, Inc. CHTR as one of its top 10 holdings.

Shares of Charter hit a 52-week high at $341.50 following reports the company is exploring a business combination with Verizon Communications Inc. VZ.

Buffett first disclosed a stake in Charter in 2014. The firm's 2015 annual report stated that the majority of its 7.5 million stake in Charter was acquired at an average cost of $161 per share. By the end of September, 2016 Buffett owned around 9.4 million shares.

Thursday's gains alone netted Buffett a cool $180 million profit, but his position has now approximately doubled since a stake was first announced a few years ago.

Meanwhile, shares of International Business Machines Corp. IBM continued to trade solidly above Buffett's average price of $170.43. Buffett owns around 80 million shares, which implies the multi-billion dollar loss he was sitting on for a few years has now turned into a gain of $640 million.
