Entrepreneur: You Don't Need Work-Life Balance, You Need Money

France's government introduced a new law that allows workers to ignore business related emails and communications sent outside normal business hours.

The new law, dubbed the "right to disconnect," is becoming a topic of debate across the world, especially in the United States where the work mentality stands in complete contrast to that of France's mindset.

Americans, Don't Be The French

According to Grant Cardone, a bestselling author, speaker, business innovator and social media personality, American workers don't need a better work–life balance, they need money.

Cardone wrote in an op-ed on CNBC that middle-class Americans shouldn't fall into the illusion that being comfortable in a work–life balance leads to financial gains and improvements.

"If you become comfortable, you take less action," he wrote. "When you take less action, you stop pushing to fulfill your potential. Seeking comfort over financial freedom is what separates the moderately successful from the most successful."

Cardone continued that France's law is fundamentally flawed and rewards laziness.

"Apparently the 35 hours employees there suffer through is too much and they can't be bothered with any work-related business emails over their long weekends," Cardone added.

Bottom line, Cardone suggested American workers take this lesson from the French: Don't be them.
