Why Is Chipotle So Successful In Attracting Teens And Millennials?

Monty Moran, Chipotle Mexican Grill co-CEO, was on CNBC's "Mad Money" recently to answer that.

Opportunities For Employees

"We hire the absolute best people we can in crew positions and some of the best people want to join us because they know that at Chipotle the opportunities for them are incredible and we promoted over 9,500 people from crew to management positions last year and we plan on topping that this year," Moran said.

Success With Millennials

Moran was asked why is Chipotle's vision resonating with teens and millennials while everyone else's is failing to do that. He replied, "We really are trying to do the right thing, like I said we are trying to change the food culture and we are very, very focused. We try to do that by having the very, very best tasting ingredients we can: ingredients raised with an eye towards sustainability, animal husbandry, the fair treatment of animals and environmental stewardship and healthfulness and really just great taste."

He continued, "So, we pick the very best ingredients we can, but then we have them served by these people who have an incredible job where we are looking to them for our future leaders."

"So, that combination produces a really great dining experience and something that's really really genuine and it resonates with our customers," Moran concluded.
