Southwest Pilots Vote To Authorize Strike - Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV)

Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA) announces that Southwest Airlines Company LUV pilots have voted to authorize a strike.
The strike authorization vote has closed with 98% participation, and 99% of pilots voted to authorize.
In response, Southwest noted the vote result has no impact on its scheduled operations, as it is staffed and prepared to welcome travelers for their summer travel plans.
Adam Carlisle, Vice President Labor Relations at Southwest Airlines, stated, "This anticipated authorization vote result does not change our commitment to the negotiation process, and we look forward to continuing discussions with SWAPA at the negotiating table."
At the start of the month, American Airlines Group Inc's AAL pilots voted to authorize a strike before the busy summer travel season.

"The lack of leadership and the unwillingness to address the failures of our organization have led us to this point. Our pilots are tired of apologizing to our passengers on behalf of a company that refuses to place its priorities on its internal and external customers," commented SWAPA President Casey Murray.
Price Action: LUV shares are trading higher by 0.93% at $29.24, and AAL higher by 0.50% at $14.14 premarket on Friday.
