Dogecoin Co-Creator Reveals Optimal Timing For Bitcoin Investment: '2009. The Second Best Time Was...'

Dogecoin DOGE/USD co-creator Billy Markus, famously known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, on Sunday weighed in on the best time to invest in Bitcoin BTC/USD

What Happened: According to Markus, the ideal time to invest in BTC was in 2009 or 2010, a statement that received a lighthearted twist from him.

In a tweet, Markus humorously remarked, “The best time to invest in bitcoin was 2009. The second best time was 2010. Follow me for more alpha," he tweeted.

Why It Matters: It is worth noting that Bitcoin had a value of zero when it was first introduced in 2009. The cryptocurrency’s price didn’t register until July 17, 2010, when it climbed to a rate of $0.09. Since then, Bitcoin has experienced significant growth, becoming the world’s most valuable and widely recognized digital currency.

The true identity of Bitcoin’s creator remains a mystery. Satoshi Nakamoto, a pseudonymous individual or group, is credited with developing Bitcoin. Nakamoto’s anonymity has added to the intrigue surrounding the creation of the first-ever decentralized cryptocurrency. In 2008, Bitcoin was unveiled to the public through a whitepaper titled “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System,” authored by Nakamoto.

Price Action: At the time of writing, DOGE was trading at $0.06257, down 0.69% in the last 24 hours, according to Benzinga Pro.
