FLOKI FLOKI/USD, the popular cryptocurrency that emerged on the scene in June 2021, has revealed its admiration for fellow meme coins Dogecoin DOGE/USD and Shiba Inu SHIB/USD.
‘No Rivalry Whatsoever'
Rather than engaging in the typical rivalry seen in the crypto space, Floki has chosen to embrace fellow meme coins like DOGE and SHIB, seeing them as catalysts for its own success and as integral components of the meme coin movement.
“We absolutely love Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. Without them, Floki wouldn’t be where it is today,” said a Floki Core Contributor, who goes by the handle B on X, during an exclusive conversation with Benzinga, adding, “..there is "no rivalry between Floki and any other meme coins."
The inception of Floki can be traced back to an event involving Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and owner of Twitter. It all began when Musk tweeted that he would name his pet Shiba Inu as “Floki.” This led to the launch of the Floki cryptocurrency, as developers aimed to replicate the success of Dogecoin and ride the meme coin wave.
Since then, Floki has amassed 470,000 holders and secured listings on over 100 exchanges.
"What sets Floki apart is its genuine appreciation for the meme coin culture and its recognition of the power of memes in driving mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies. While some meme coins may be associated with speculation or gambling, Floki aims to bring real value and utility to the table, "B tells Benzinga.

Not Elon But His Brother Who Helped
B said while Musk’s interest in meme coins has been widely documented, it is his brother, Kimbal Musk, who collaborated with Floki on the Million Gardens Movement, an initiative fighting food insecurity.
"Kimbal was actually impressed with what we were doing with Floki," B noted.
The Million Gardens Movement is a community of gardeners who want to inspire a happier, healthier world by educating people about a better diet, through funding and educating millions of new gardeners to grow their own food.
However, it is important to note that Kimbal also expressed caution towards meme coins in February 2022, emphasizing the importance of addressing environmental concerns.
A Message For Elon
During the conversation with Benzinga, B revealed that he had approached Kimbal with a special message intended for Elon. The message conveyed gratitude to Elon for his role in building a robust community for meme coins. "Thank you, for building a strong community for meme coins," the message he sent to Elon read.
A significant aspect of Floki’s ecosystem is the metaverse game known as Valhalla. This game offers players the opportunity to explore a crypto-powered universe.
In addition, Floki has developed a DeFi platform called FlokiFi, which allows users to lock their LP tokens into non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Additionally, the University of Floki, a crypto educational platform, is dedicated to providing knowledge and support to newcomers in the crypto space.
