Here's Where To Buy Legal Weed: Florida MMJ Market Grows, New Celeb-Backed Shop & More

Florida Retail Footprint Grows Amid Rec Legalization Talks

Two fierce competitors in the Florida medical marijuana market have recently expanded their retail footprints.

Trulieve Cannabis Corp. TRUL TCNNF kicked off cannabis sales at 5037 Hwy 90 in Pace.

The new store offers greater access to Florida medical cannabis patients in Santa Rosa and Escambia counties across the Interstate 10 corridor.

"We consistently seek opportunities to better serve medical cannabis patients with convenient locations, great customer service experiences and a broad selection of top-quality products," Trulieve's CEO Kim Rivers said.

Come see Kim Rivers at the Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference, the place where deals get done, this Sept 27-28 for its 17th edition.

One of Trulieve's main competitors, medical marijuana giant Cresco Labs Inc. CRLBF CL (FSE:6CQ), opened a second Sunnyside medical cannabis store in Jacksonville last week.

Located at 2725 College St., the new shop joins its sister location in Jacksonville Beach in providing patients with greater access to best-in-class cannabis products from the company's branded portfolio.

Charlie Bachtell, the Cresco's CEO and co-founder, will also join other top executives, CEOs and entrepreneurs at Beniznga's fall event.

Some companies that are also positioning themselves for the potential legalization of recreational marijuana in the state include Planet 13 and AYR Wellness, Inc. Planet 13, the Las Vegas cannabis operator has its eyes on VidaCann's 26 Florida dispensaries, while AYR opened three retail locations in Orange County.

A legalization initiative is expected to go to the voters in 2024, that is if the Supreme Court and Attorney General Ashley Moody don't manage to push the industry off the ballot.
