Marjorie Taylor Greene Makes Unsubstantiated Claims Of Marijuana 'Zombies' In NYC

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a controversial MAGA lawmaker and Georgia Congresswoman, has once again made headlines with her recent comments on the legalization of marijuana in New York City.

Greene claims that during her recent trip to Manhattan — which she made to support former U.S. President Donald Trump during his indictment — she witnessed New Yorkers who were “zombies” due to the effects of marijuana.

“I saw them when I went there to protest against the weaponization of government against President Trump by a George Soros-funded DA,” she tweeted.

Greene has also called New York City "disgusting," and likened it to Gotham City, the fictional city where Batman fights crime. Her recent claims about weed "zombies" in the Big Apple appear to be another exaggeration and fear-mongering tactic by the GOP against cities with Democratic leaders. While some concerns have been raised about the impact of legalizing marijuana on the workforce, the reality is that the city's crime rate is down.

Greene and other Republicans have been especially outspoken against New York and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in recent weeks ever since Trump was arrested for 37 felony counts of falsifying business records.

New York's cannabis market has faced several challenges since the signing of the recreational marijuana bill into law in 2021.
