Viola Brands, the cannabis company from NBA star Al Harrington, is expanding its offerings with Grandma-themed edibles, according to Yahoo Finance.
The company, named after Harrington's grandmother Viola, partnered with Puff Cannabis to introduce edibles influenced by some of Harrington's fondest memories with his grandmother and her favorite foods.

The flavors include Big Apple Dreamin', inspired by her grandmother's apple pie, and Paradise Island, based on her fond memories of visiting the islands.

“We’re calling it Grandma’s Kitchen," Harrington said. "We’re focused on all products or flavors that my grandmother really loved or that she made. She loved coffee in the morning. So, we have a coffee [flavor] and different things like that."

The Harrington brand plans to launch the products in Michigan, Arizona, California, and Colorado markets.

Since November 2021, Viola products have been available across Canada via the Medical Cannabis by Shoppers online platform thanks to a partnership with biopharmaceutical company Avicanna Inc. AVCNF.

Viola Brands is known for its mission: increasing minority participation and ownership in the cannabis industry while "positively impacting and reinvesting into communities most affected by the war on drugs.”

The company was inspired by Harrington's suggesting to his grandmother, Viola, to try cannabis to improve her health (glaucoma) — and her vision recovered.

Additionally, Harrington has been able to leverage Viola's success to change the mindset around marijuana and “how it negatively affects the black community.”
