Most sectors of the S&P 500 saw gains on Tuesday, with materials, health care, and real estate leading the advance, whereas information technology and communication services stocks declined.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.37% and closed at 38,521.36, the S&P 500 rose 0.23% to 4,954.23, while the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.07%, ending the session at 15,609.00.

  • China’s Shanghai Composite climbed 1.44% to 2,829.70, and the Shenzhen CSI 300 gained 0.96%, closing at 3,343.63.
  • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index slid 0.48%, concluding the day at 16,059.00.
