The whole “find a need and fill it” marketing philosophy has proven to be much less effective than business professionals once thought. Thus, when building Olark.com, co-founder Zach Steindler wasn't simply looking to fill a need.
“Two of our co-founders previously worked at an Internet Service Provider,” Steindler told Benzinga during a recent interview. “Many of their customers were asking them for live chat solutions. They weren't really happy with what was out there, so they decided to make their own.”
“Anyone with a website can use Olark to put live chats on there,” Steindler continues. “So anyone who visits the website, you can do customer development, sales, anything like that.”
“Previously,” Steindler adds, “I was an early employee at another startup, and I just one day decided that it was time to make the jump to become a co-founder.”
