With Amazon Prime, the company has found so much success it decided to have an Amazon Prime Day , beginning in 2015. The event, on July 12 this year, reaped much reward for the company.

What is Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime is a membership program that allows members access to streaming video, music, e-books, free shipping and a variety of other Amazon-specific services and deals. All these come at an annual fee of $99 per year or $10.99 per month.

Amazon lets users trial its membership program at no cost for 30 days, providing early access to deals and free two-day shipping. The company mentions the following reasons, among others, as why customers choose Amazon Prime:

  • Members have access to free shipping on over 30 million items.
  • Free same-day delivery in eligible ZIP codes.
  • Through Prime Now, one can get one-hour delivery of products from local stores.
  • Prime Early Access given to members allows users 30-minute early access to Lightening Deals on Amazon.com.
  • Thousands of movies and TV shows are available to watch with Prime Video.
  • Millions of songs and thousands of playlists are available to stream.
  • Free kindle e-books and unlimited photo storage are also available. Through Kindle First, a Prime member can download one Kindle First title for free each month, a month before its official release date.
  • Furthermore, Prime allows users exclusive access to deals, Twitch , etc.
