No More Bailouts

If the government bails out one more company, I am renaming this country the People's Republic of America. (And do not think I do not have the power to do that. I have a Wikipedia account—and I know how to use it.) If you want to know what our government should be doing, just watch I Love Lucy. When Lucy spent a ton of money on a hat, did Ricky give her more money? No. He took the new hat and gave it to Lucy's friend Caroline. But America has a much different philosophy nowadays. It is practically begging companies to waste money. I will bet the government is taking a cue from one of those modern sitcoms. Like Friends. There are six people on that show—and they are all fiscally irresponsible. They have no interest in saving money. Maybe we should put Ricky Ricardo on our $50 bill, as a reminder of what this country is all about. Or at the bare minimum, let's make a Friends spinoff where Ross does 25 to life in a maximum security prison. Maybe that will let people know that we won't tolerate wasted money. Or anything else on Friends. Government bailouts are a disgrace. It is like we are going out of our way to create an uncompetitive environment. Nowadays, companies like GM
GM
and A.I.G.
AIG
are entitled to something, while this day's future Henry Fords
F
and J. Pierpont Morgans have to compete with them. And if this continues, there will hardly be any future Henry Fords or J. Pierpont Morgans. Whenever the government gives an old, established, inefficient company more money, it makes it less likely that a more innovative and efficient one will take its place. Someone needs to tell those assholes in Washington that this is America. We should have a redneck walk into Congress and announce that on a megaphone every ten minutes. 3:00 "This is America!" 3:10 "This is America!" 3:20 "This is America!" That is an important part of checks and balances. I am surprised the Founding Fathers did not put that in the Constitution. Maybe they were a bunch rednecks. They just assumed it was not necessary. So I do not like some of the things the government is doing. But I am not opposed to government intervention. I just do not like the idea of the government rewarding a money-losing company. They should do the opposite. They should punish them. If General Motors is losing money, some guys from the government should walk in and take 90% of their metal. As in, “We do not want this metal going into your piece of crap cars. We will give it back as soon as you make something better than a Honda.” And the government should reward companies that put out quality products. Like Audacity. Their software is free—and it is amazing. They should get money. Money? They should get slaves. The creator of Audacity should get the CEO of General Motors. Do not get me wrong. I am anti-slavery. Generally speaking. But there should be some exceptions. And that is why I want GM's CEO to be someone's property.
