Sony Group Corp.'s SONY PlayStation's inaugural State of Play event in 2024 provided an extensive update on the upcoming games slated for release on the PS5.
The event showcased a diverse lineup of titles, featuring extended looks at highly anticipated games such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Dragon's Dogma II, alongside surprise announcements like Sonic x Shadow Generations.

Here's everything announced at the first PlayStation event of the year:
- Death Stranding 2: On the Beach: Kojima Productions presented a detailed trailer for Death Stranding 2, officially titled "On the Beach." The game features Norman Reedus' character, Sam Porter Bridges, confronting a new adversary group named Drawbridge. The trailer showcased intense sequences, including a villain with a chainsaw-guitar-hybrid weapon. The star-studded cast includes Reedus, Lea Seydoux, Elle Fanning, among others.
- Hideo Kojima's New Action Espionage Game: Following the Death Stranding 2 presentation, Hideo Kojima confirmed his studio is working on a new PlayStation exclusive—a yet-to-be-titled action espionage game aiming to blur the line between video games and film.
- Deep Dive on Team Ninja's Rise of the Ronin: Team Ninja provided an in-depth look at Rise of the Ronin, an action game set to release on March 22. The presentation highlighted the hub world of Yokohama, 1-on-1 sword combat with a parry system, and other gameplay elements.
- Until Dawn Remaster Coming to PS5 and PC This Year: A remaster of Until Dawn by Ballistic Moon is confirmed, enhancing graphics for release on PlayStation 5 and PC later in 2024.
- Stellar Blade Deep Dive, Release Date Announced: A detailed overview of Stellar Blade, an action game by Shift Up and Sony Interactive Entertainment, was presented. The game is set to release on April 26, 2024, featuring stylish action combat in an apocalyptic world.
- Capcom Shares Another Dragon's Dogma 2 Trailer: Capcom showcased another trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2, to be released on March 22.
- Sonic x Shadow Generations Announced: SEGA revealed Sonic x Shadow Generations, an enhanced remaster of Sonic Generations featuring new content with Shadow the Hedgehog. The game will be available on various platforms in Autumn 2024.

- Metro Awakening VR, Legendary Tales, Foamstars, Helldivers 2: Metro Awakening VR brings the series to virtual reality, Legendary Tales was revealed for PlayStation VR2, Foamstars is launching on PlayStation Plus and Helldivers 2, a multiplayer shooter, was previewed ahead of its Feb. 8 release.
