After-Hours Movers Led By Nike, Micron, Celgene And CalAmp

Shares of Nike Inc NKE were trading up roughly 3.5 percent on Tuesday’s after-hours session, following the announcement of the company’s second quarter –fiscal 2016- financial results. The famed sporting products company reported earnings of $0.90 per share, above the Street’s consensus estimate of $0.85 per share. However, revenue of $7.686 billion fell short of consensus expectations, which called for $7.808 billion in sales. Having said this, it should be noted that sales were up 4.14 percent year-over-year, nonetheless.

Also surging on its earnings call was CalAmp Corp. CAMP, which gained almost 1.2 percent since the bell rang. The small cap provider of wireless communications solutions delivered third quarter –fiscal 2016- earnings of $0.31 per share on revenue of $74.68 million, beating the Street’s consensus estimate of $0.28 per share and $73.38 million. The results implied substantial growth from the earnings of $0.25 per share on revenue of $63.2 million reported in the same quarter last year.

On the other hand, there’s Micron Technology, Inc. MU, which lost more than 4 percent since the market closed. For the first quarter of fiscal 2016, the Street was modeling consensus earnings of $0.23 per share on revenue of $3.493 billion. While earnings of $0.24 came in ahead of expectations, revenue of $3.35 billion fell well below them. Notably, this figure represents a 27 percent year-over-year decline in sales, which management attributed to weak PC chips demand and lower prices.

One more after-hours mover to highlight was Celgene Corporation CELG, up more than 12 percent since the bell rang on news about the company having settled its REVLIMID patent litigation.
