Weight Watchers Announces Subscription-Based Apple Watch Payment Plan; Morgan Stanley Downgrades

On Thursday, Weight Watchers International, Inc. WTW announced its latest venture, and it seems like Oprah Winfrey’s stake in the company is having some influence. Clients will get some “swag” with a membership plan.

Apple Watches For You And You And You! At A Price...

With a purchase of an OnlinePlus membership, clients will have the option of signing up for the Weight Watchers Apple Inc. AAPL watch subscription plan to purchase an Apple Watch Series 2. It does, however, come with a price tag. The base OnlinePlus subscription plan costs at least $3.30 per week, and if clients want to enroll in the Apple watch subscription plan, they’ll need to shell out $99.95 up front and 12 monthly payments of $34.95, bringing the total to $519.90 for the watch alone.

Morgan Stanley Downgrades

Following the announcement, Morgan Stanley downgraded the stock from Equal Weight to Underweight and cut its price target to $8 from $12. The stock responded to the downgrade, and the stock opened down over 5 percent.

At last check, shares were trading down 6.92 percent at $10.04.
