Chowdhry Says Tesla Is The Poster Child Of Trump's Presidency: 'Making American Manufacturing Sexy Again'

Tesla Motors Inc TSLA shares are down 5.1 percent since Election Day as the market weighs what could be an unpredictable Trump presidency for alternative energy stocks. However, according to Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry, Donald Trump is actually the perfect U.S. president for Tesla.

Chowdhry believes Trump’s stance on American manufacturing puts Tesla in a unique position to benefit from his policies.

Trump has said that he will use his first 100 days in office to tackle the following issues:

  • “America first” production and innovation.
  • American job creation.
  • Clean coal.

“All of the above is exactly what TSLA does: Tesla builds the car right here in Silicon Valley, while [the] rest of auto manufacturers are going to Mexico,” Chowdhry explained.

Chowdhry calls Tesla the “poster child” for Trump’s plan to make American manufacturing sexy again.

Chowdhry also clarified his controversial position on global warming.

“Global warming is a hoax and the scientific community can find any data to support any theory,” he noted.

He believes that Trump is right to focus on pollution rather than global warming.

Tesla shares may be under pressure from General Motors Company GM as well. Earlier this month, GM’s Chevy Bolt, the main competition for Tesla’s Model 3, was named 2017 Motor Trend Car of the Year.
